Meet Masooma Rajput- First Woman From Balochistan Breaking Stereotypes By Pursuing Masters In Cancer Biology!

Pakistani women have got special place in the world especially known for their chivalry and passion for heading towards success through thick and thin. Masooma Rajput is such another example and addition in the list of brave girls of Pakistan. She broke all the stereotypes by emerging from Balochistan and going as far as she is today.
She made record by becoming the first ever female in Pakistan to pursue Master’s degree in Cancer Biology from Germany. Balochistan is known as a deprived province full of tribes and a lot of stereotypes and traditions specifically made for women leaving them marginalized. In this scenario Masooma Rajput made didn’t fail to get a future she always dreamt of.


In an interview to a news publication, Masooma shared her struggles and problems she had to face for belonging to the most conservative part of the country. She told how badly she was criticized by everyone but her parents and closed ones. Her parents supported her in the best way to get her the future she was aspiring for.

She was presented with an internship in cancer research at Harvard University. Now she is pursuing masters in Heidelberg Institute of Cancer research Germany. Formerly she did her bachelors on a granted scholarship from Germany.

Talking about her academic achievements, Masooma said, “My academic journey was normal. Not extraordinary. But I was passionate to do something unconventional. I took more subjects in my O and A levels to keep my options open”. She added, “I chose biochemistry in O levels. You are required to choose eight subjects in O levels but I took eighteen and scored A grade in fourteen of them. Likewise, you are required to choose three subjects in A levels but I chose seven and scored A grade in six of them”

She is for sure the best specimen of enthusiasm, determination and quest for standing extraordinary in the world of ordinaries. Cancer Biology is a field rarely chosen by some in Pakistan. So Masooma Rajput has got the title along with the degree for being the first Pakistani female for holding this degree and pursuing it further.
